A little bit about who we are.  Foote Law is committed to providing exceptional legal services within a supportive and flexible environment. We strive to maintain a compassionate and caring approach to competent and cost-effective top tier legal expertise. Who we are is innovative and resourceful, driven to guide our clients through the process of obtaining access to justice, while maintaining clear and open lines of communication and maintaining dignity and respect every step of the way.

Jessica K. Foote B.B.A. (Hons), J.D.

Barrister and Solicitor, Founder of Foote Law

Called to the Bar after earning her Juris Doctor while attending Osgood Hall Law School, Ms. Foote founded Foote Law, based in Orangeville, Ontario with the express purpose of serving the community with a focus on both family law and criminal law. Recently adding real estate transactions, and wills / estates services to her roster, she remains dedicated to providing approachable, client-focussed, legal assistance that is both flexible and affordable.

Ms. Foote is also an Honours Graduate with a Baccalaureate in Business Administration and Management from the University of Guelph where she received numerous awards including from the Canadian Institute of Management and the Women’s Opportunity Award from Soroptomist International. Her commitment to social justice was evidenced throughout school by her volunteer services with the Family Law Project within the Brampton Superior and Ontario Court of Justice. Additionally, she has worked with both a prominent family and criminal law firm and in personal injury law. Currently, Ms. Foote is a legal instructor with the Mandatory Information Program for Peel Family Mediation Services. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Dufferin County Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Family Law Association and the Criminal Law Association. Active in the community, Ms. Foote is also a member of the University Women’s Club of Orangeville, Dufferin Women in Business and the Dufferin Board of Trade. Ms. Foote is a mother of three, an avid golfer and in the past has volunteered with Dufferin County Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Throughout college, university and law school she was a student mentor and more recently has spent a significant amount of time volunteering in the schools her children attend. She supports and encourages her team with their own volunteer endeavours at locations such as the Orangeville Foodbank by enabling flexible work schedules so staff can support the causes closest to them. Ms. Foote also does Pro Bono work on occasion and prides herself on always being available to her clients.

Jennifer J. Brown

Called to the bar in 2002, Ms. Brown has nearly 20 years of experience practicing family law. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University. Ms. Brown is a personal rights panel member with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and a Dispute Resolution Officer with the Superior Court of Justice. She is also a past panel member with the Family Responsibility Office.

Ms. Brown is a proud advocate for social justice and is a Board Member with the Caledon Parent Child Centre and a member of the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association. Her past volunteer experience includes Board positions with the Headwaters Family Visit Centre, Caledon Community Services and the Peel Sexual/Assault/Rape Crisis Centre.

Danette attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. Danette was Regional Supervising Counsel for northern Ontario at the Family Responsibility Office and back-up counsel for the Toronto area courts. She continues to represent FRO as a panel lawyer competently advising clients on support issues.

Danette has twenty years of family law experience including Alternative Dispute Resolution skills to assist her clients in resolving any conflict. She has appeared before all levels of Court across Ontario. She enjoys the dynamic nature of family law and advocating on behalf of our clients during one of the most stressful times in their lives. Danette uses plain language to communicate with our clients. Danette is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and volunteers at Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket. She is also a member of the York Region Lawyer’s Association and of Legal Aid Ontario’s Family Law Advisory Committee.

Anne is a meticulously detailed and organized clerk who has extensive experience with all aspects of the Family Court system. Anne has been an Associate Member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario since 1999.

More recently, in September 2018 April graduated from the Law Clerk program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, where she grew up. In addition to working in law, April enjoys helping others in her community by volunteering and being an ally to those who are in need.

Debbie Johnson is the newest member of the Foote Law team. Debbie will be the first point of contact whether you are attending the Foote Law office in person or calling by telephone. Debbie has vast experience as a senior office administrator and will be available to assist all new and existing clients through the initial communication process with the firm.
